Leanne with Muppet
Leanne is a qualified Canine Myofunctional Therapist through the National College of Traditional Medicine. Leanne's love of animals and their wellbeing is what influenced her to complete the training in this discipline.

What is it?
Canine Myofunctional Therapy (CMT) is a professional, non invasive hands on application using manipulation of the dog’s muscles. This can only by done by a qualified myofunctional therapist who has an understanding of canine anatomy and massage techniques. It involves an evaluation and assessment process to detect problem areas of the musculo-skeletal system.

CMT has a strong healing influence on all animals. Massage creates movement of soft tissues. This increases circulation by bringing oxygen, nutrients and warmth to the muscles and releasing the build-up of toxins from inactive muscles. It has the potential to assist in the healing and prevention of soft tissue injuries and helps trigger the body’s ability to heal by itself. This is a very beneficial tool for the general health of all dogs.

Some of the benefits of CMT massage are:

  • Improved blood flow throughout the body
  • Better function of the organs
  • Increases flexibility and range of motion of joints
  • The elimination of waste from around the joints
  • Relieve muscle spasms and tightness
  • Assist in recovery from injury and surgery
  • Relaxes and refreshes the muscles
  • Delivers oxygen and nutrients to muscle cells
  • Reduction of stress in the dog
Dogs of all ages will benefit from massage. Even dogs that are in good health need a massage from everyday strains and stresses. A simple play session or failure to warm up could result in an injury. Several sessions may be necessary to reach treatment goals. Your dog will benefit from this therapeutic application and love it too.

If you would like to find out more about massage for your dog or to make a booking, please contact us.
